Voice- The Bodyshop with Jennifer Black and Dr. Steve is brought to you by Allegheny Chesapeake Physical Therapy.

Jennifer Black - Today are topic is Foot pain specifically pain under the ball of your foot.

Dr. Steve - Yes Jennifer when pain in the foot in under the ball of your foot it is called Metatarsalgia Folks with Metatarsalgia complain of pain with bare foot walking, pain when in high heels, it feels like they are walking on a pebble or a marble. Often a thick callus is under the ball of the foot.

This can be painful for several reasons. As we age we lose our padding. Foot Structure, high arch leads to increased pressure on the ball of the foot. A long bone on the 2nd metatarsal or a short first metatarsal, Improper shoe wear, and sometimes trauma.

The good news is that most Metatarsalgia is very manageable, you can get relief with good shoes and some properly place padding in your shoe. From simple pads to major orthotics. If is often very inexpensive. I don't suggest the pad you can buy in the stores. One good source is Ha Pad, they will mail the pads to your home and they are better then store bought. So don't stop your walking because of this it is fixable, and frequently easily.

Jennifer Black - Thanks Dr. Steve it is always nice to know there is an easy way to get rid of pain! If you want more information Contact Dr. Steve at 1-800-332-5740 or www.AlleghanyChesapeake.com
